Huw Williams is currently serving as a Powys County Councillor for the Aber-craf and Ystradgynlais ward, where his key responsibilities include

Planning Licensing and Rights of Way Committee, Licensing Act 2003 Committee, Taxi Licensing subcommittee, Pensions and Investment Committee, PCC Housing – Tenants Scrutiny Committee and Climate Change Committee.

He is a fluent Welsh speaker and has over 30 years’ experience in Youth and Community work. During this time, he managed a Local Authority’s Youth and Community provision which included staff supervision, appraisal, and development as well as monitoring and evaluating provision against the service quality framework. He has overseen a delegated budget so that resources and staffing are distributed equitably and within regulations. He has also managed various personnel issues and had a specific Health and Safety responsibility across the Powys Youth Service.

To further the cause for young people he has represented the Youth Service on numerous bodies and worked in partnership with many agencies.

Over time his community work included the delivery of an informal adult education programme, adult literacy classes, support of village halls a Community Minibus scheme and summer play schemes.
