James Evans has lived and worked in the agricultural and business sector in the Brecon Beacons National Park for most of his life. Brought up on a family farm, he left school and joined Powys County Council and then went on to work as a press officer for his local MP before returning to full time agriculture. James was the Llyndy Isaf Scholar for the National Trust.
In 2017, James was elected as a Powys County Councillor - the youngest member of the council and one of the youngest cabinet members in the whole of Wales. Alongside this he works part time on his in-law’s deer farm the Welsh Venison Centre in Bwlch.
James believes that his active involvement in the local community and his involvement with the Young Farmers Movement and the National Farmers Union both locally and nationally has given him valuable skills and experiences in rural life and the need to develop the economy of the local area.
His main interests are politics, sport and rural affairs. He enjoys playing rugby and feels that team work is essential in life as well as in sport.
