Liz was born and raised in rural Hampshire in what is now part of the South Downs National Park. She now lives with her husband near Raglan in Monmouthshire from where she can see the hills of the Brecon Beacons from her kitchen window. Liz has 3 grown-up children, 8 grandchildren and an elderly, but sprightly, Mum.
Liz is a learning and development professional and has a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from Warwick University.
Liz spent her career in public services rising to senior posts in the NHS, in Whitehall, the United Nations and in Welsh Government. In 2015 Liz was awarded an OBE for her contribution to public services in Wales. Her most recent role was as Executive Director of Workforce and OD at Natural Resources Wales. After leaving the Welsh Government she went on to take a full time degree in Contemporary Glass at Swansea College of Art graduating with a first in 2017.
She is a keen and engaged Trustee of an international development charity working in the drylands of Africa with a special interest in good governance. Liz continues to work part-time supporting charities with their governance and people challenges.
Liz has a strong commitment to the environment and an even stronger commitment to the people who live and work in the special landscapes that places like the Brecon Beacons National Park provide. She is an enthusiastic, if haphazard, vegetable gardener and is gradually returning the mono-culture of their garden into diverse habitats albeit on a small scale.
